The Bay Area Biotechnology Consortium
was formed with the goal of representing our region as
the “Birthplace and Future of Biotechnology.“ At our
first endeavor, we were especially pleased to have
represented California's Biotech Industry at BIO-Europe
2005.
California understands that technology and innovation
are the vital forces behind our economic engine and a
brighter future for humanity. As the “birthplace of
biotechnology,” California is home to the largest
concentration of life science companies as well some of
the most respected research institutions in the world.
Our biotechnology industry is nourished by more than $15
billion in private investment in research and
development, a remarkable commitment to life sciences
discovery strengthened by $9.3 billion in venture
capital investment in 2004 alone.
California offers a huge skilled workforce, experienced
industry leaders, and the highest concentration of
scientists, engineers, and technicians in the United
States. Our world class transportation infrastructure
connects California to the global market.
From the gold rush to the silicon boom, California has
always been a land of opportunity and innovation.
Realize the possibilities; make California your entry
point for the US market and work with us to bring the
future of biotechnology to life.
Sincerely,
