Benitec develops RNA interference (RNAi)-based
therapeutics to treat serious diseases such as AIDS and
hepatitis C. RNAi is an exciting new technology that
combines target validation and lead drug identification into
one step, significantly shortening the drug development
cycle when compared to the development of small molecule
drugs. Benitec has identified multiple lead drug candidates
against hepatitis C virus and expects to be in Phase I
trials by the end of 2006.
