Background:
Reporting to the Vice President of Process Development, the Director of
Product Technical Teams (PTT) is a new role responsible for providing
the necessary leadership, strategic vision, tactical execution and
business acumen to support Product Operation’s goal of leveraging
technical resources to formally oversee the performance of bulk
production processes, to align technical initiatives across the
manufacturing network, to provide a clear manufacturing technical point
of contact for key stakeholders, and to serve as business process owner
developing and managing the processes needed to ensure coordinated
manufacturing technical expertise and perspective to meet the growing
and changing business needs of the Product Operations organization.
The Director of Product Technical Teams will develop the business
processes needed to operationalize the network of Product Technical
Teams comprised of technical experts from the respective manufacturing
sites. In this role, he/she will work with the PTT leaders and other
stakeholders to define and develop systems and processes to ensure
appropriate review of process performance data, of process improvement
ideas, of change requests, etc to ensure process consistency across
network for each product.
Duties:
1.Provide strategic context and define operating rules
•Assure consistency across groups in reporting and analysis methods
•In partnership with PD, CMC teams, Quality and Manufacturing, define
roles and responsibilities, input and outputs, and interactions with
stakeholders, as well as decision making rights, and what needs to be
escalated to whom
•Serves as business process owner of the PTTs
•Accountable for developing the process maps, R&R, establish the
expectations, and start-up of the PTTs, including setting expectations
with functional management, and assuring that PTT participation is part
of a members performance planning & review (PP&R).
2.Define the process of identifying and approving PTT Leaders
3.Provide support to PTTs by continuously improving business process
infrastructure
4.Provide single point of contact for cross network, cross product
manufacturing technical issues.
5.Serve as BPO for key responsibilities being defined as part of SUMMIT
(class A initiative) such as BOM (bill of materials) owner, and as
technical representative to key initiatives such as i2c and raw material
review board re-definition initiatives.
6.Member of CMC Review Committee, PD Sr. Leadership team, Global change
Review Committee, and other appropriate review and governance
committees.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
•Undergraduate degree in life sciences/engineering required, advanced
degree in life sciences/engineering preferred
•10+ years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including 5 or
more years of senior level management experience required
•Experience in MSAT and bioprocess manufacturing required
•Demonstrated leadership success in both project and people management
•Demonstrated ability to drive for results and lead innovation and
change
•Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team with
dotted-line reporting relationship.
•Demonstrated command of tools and techniques of formal process
improvement methodologies (Operational Excellence, Class A)
•Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the
organization both internal and external to Genentech, Inc.
•Demonstrated success in business process/system development, influence
management, collaboration and change management.
•Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration
and presentation skills
