Since the first Raleigh meeting in 1993, the very successful
BIO Annual Convention has grown from 1,400 attendees to over 18,000 at the 2005
meeting in Philadelphia. Due to the sheer size of the meeting, small to medium
size companies are finding it more and more difficult to create impact at the
convention.
Company executives looking to maximize their experience at BIO 2006 should
consider participating in one of the most underutilized and little known tools
at the convention, “one-on-one” partnering with the BIO Partnering System. Over
18,000 people attended BIO 2005 in Philadelphia with 954 companies participating
in 7,504 partnering meetings. In contrast, approximately 1,450 people attended
BIO-Europe 2005 in Dresden, Germany. Over 850 companies from 34 countries
participated in 5,124 one-on-one partnering meetings.
Based on BIO-Europe's highly successful partnering meetings, the BIO Partnering
System was developed as a “fast and targeted” system for decision makers in
business development, licensing and research. The Web based information resource
and appointment system features tools which can help attendees promote their
company and licensing opportunities as well as perform detailed searches to
identify and then communicate with prospective partners. Most importantly, the
powerful system is used to pre-schedule one-on-one partnering at the BIO
conference. If your partnering calendar is full or you have scheduling
conflicts, you can also use the system to arrange offsite meetings. An onsite
version of the BIO Partnering System is made available during BIO to facilitate
the meeting process.
Companies may submit up to 50 requests to meet with representatives of other
companies. If the requests are accepted by both parties, the BIO Partnering
System will schedule the half-hour meetings at mutually agreed upon times. All
onsite meetings are conveniently held in one location at the BIO Business Forum.
For a nominal fee (in addition to your attendance fee, Partnering will run $500
for BIO members and $750 for Non-BIO Members), this is a unique opportunity to
participate in pre-arranged meetings with senior-level executives to optimize
the opportunity to create sustainable, long-term business partnerships.
Opportunities developed with the BIO Partnering System have resulted in many
successful business and research partnerships.
